China’s Grand Canal Ends In Hangzhou. The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, is the longest canal or artificial river in the world. It’s connected northern and southern China for over 1400 years and is still in operation today.
The best seasons to visit are Spring (March - May) and Autumn (September to November).
